Stochastic coherency in forecast reconciliation

چکیده
Hierarchical forecasting has been receiving increasing attention in the literature. The notion of coherency is central to this, which implies that hierarchical time series follows some linear aggregation constraints. This notion, however, does not take several modelling uncertainties into account. We propose redefine as stochastic. allows accommodate overlooked forecast reconciliation. show analytically there are two potential sources uncertainty use simulated data demonstrate how these propagate covariance matrix estimation, introducing reconciliation weights matrix. then increases reconciled forecasts. apply our understanding accident and emergency admissions a UK hospital. Forecast a one-dimensional stochastic automaton
In this work we show an alternative form for forecasting trends in time series that behaves stochastically. For this, we are adopting a mathematical approach and treating the time series as the evolution of stochastic cellular automata, and thus, our problem narrows down to find the model for the cellular automata that best describes the behavior of time series. Using machine learning, more spe...
متن کاملStochastic E2F Activation and Reconciliation of Phenomenological Cell-Cycle Models
The transition of the mammalian cell from quiescence to proliferation is a highly variable process. Over the last four decades, two lines of apparently contradictory, phenomenological models have been proposed to account for such temporal variability. These include various forms of the transition probability (TP) model and the growth control (GC) model, which lack mechanistic details. The GC mo...
متن کاملStochastic-based accuracy of data reconciliation estimators for linear systems
Accuracy of an instrument has been traditionally defined as the sum of the precision and the bias. Recently, this notion was generalized to stimators [Bagajewicz, M. (2005a). On the definition of software accuracy in redundant measurement systems.AIChE Journal, 51(4), 1201–1206]. he definition was based on the maximum undetected bias and ignored the frequency of failure, thus providing an upper...
متن کاملConversational Coherency
A major goal of this work is to specify some steps of the process by which participants maintain coherency in their conversations. The underlying element of the analysis is a construct called a 'context space'. Roughly, a group of utterances that refers to a single issue or episode forms the basis for a context space. Superficially a conversation is a sequence of utterances; at a deeper level i...
متن کاملCoherency in Distributed Shared Memory
We present a new model for distributed shared memory systems, based on remote data accesses. Such features are offered by network interface cards that allow one-sided operations, remote direct memory access and OS bypass. This model leads to new interpretations of distributed algorithms allowing us to propose an innovative detection technique of race conditions only based on logical clocks. Ind...
